Aarons have no fear. We are making great progress. In fact, next Thursday and Friday the 19th and 20th we will be shooting in Jerusalem. We’re still working out arrangements, but if you know Aaron Cohens now would be the time to put us in touch. Leave comments here. There are 331 aaron Cohens in Israel. I can’t wait to meet all of them.

Aaron “God’s Work” Cohen

My Bio:
Aaron Cohen is a human rights activist who has established a modern-day “Jubilee” movement to free slaves, assist displaced peoples, and forgive debts around the world. Media stories have lauded his work finding and retrieving victims of human trafficking and have called him a “Slave Hunter”. Cohen was awarded a Commendation from the County of Los Angeles for his efforts combating human trafficking both at home and abroad, implementing human rights campaigns with music legends, politicians, royals, and religious leaders. On many of his missions in the US, in Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Sudan, Ecuador, Columbia, Cambodia, Thailand, and in the Junta ruled Myanmar Burma– Cohen worked undercover and assessed the phenomenon of slavery from the inside. He was recently named by the World War II Memorial Foundation, the Immortal Chaplains, as the recipient of the 2008 Prize for Humanity for “risking all to save others”, and he was honored with a US Congressional Certificate of Merit for his public service.

331 Aaron Cohens in Israel
Lt Aaron reports that Israel’a national registry has 331 Aaron Cohens between the age of 2 and 73. Very exciting news. Even better a new venture friend named pinny has a nephew names Aaron cohen who drove a tank during the gaza conflict. I want to interview Aaron “tank” cohen today before I go, but shabbat is ok it’s way and Jerusalem changes a bit on Friday evenings
Lieutenant Aaron Cohen

Lt. Aaron Cohen
What a night. I met my first Israeli Aaron Cohen who is 26 and studying to be a lawyer. He served in the rabinnical unit of the IDF and saw combat duty in the Lebanon war. I shot some Flip Video of him which I will try to put up. I thought he was charming. His friends were cool and bottom line is we’re brothers.
Sort of.
Most importantly, we are going to work hard on tracking down many more Aaron Cohens in Israel via something called the National Registry, which is a more frequently updated cenus. EVerybody should facebook Lieutenant Aaron Cohen

Matthew Zapruder on the Film Direction
The poet Matthew Zapruder is one of my oldest friends. He and I were deeply influenced by Christopher Guest and he knows what I want to do. Here are his thoughts on what will happen with this film.
….. Things will develop because it’s an experience you haven’t had yet, are in the middle of having. I think the real issue will be something way beyond the surface humor of it, which is of course important. That and the charm and hilarity of some of these “ordinary” guys who are singled out by you because of the very ordinariness of their name (when you let them talk these ordinary guys just become stars!) are the engine of the film, driving it towards something deeper that you can’t (and shouldn’t) know yet. The experience itself will reveal what’s great about the film. That I think is how great documentaries work, the journey of discovery for the film maker is experienced by the viewer
